Pregnancy After Infertility #2

6 months ago, or probably even less, I was convinced we would never have a child of our own. Sure, we looked at adoption and we were considering learning more about it but part of me was a little heartbroken about giving up on that dream.

It's kind of hard to let go of the idea of carrying your own child. Of breastfeeding them. Of that moment where they lay that baby on your chest after you deliver it and it's all fuzzy and pink and yours. It's hard to imagine not having that.

And then last week we had an ultrasound and the baby was moving like crazy, even if I can't feel it, and it was so wonderful to see and know we do get that experience.

They asked if we wanted to know the gender, and we both did so she showed us. We're having a girl. I have a daughter. She's not here yet sorta, but she is at the same time. We got to see my daughter's hands. Her feet. Her stomach. Her heart.

After five years of trying, I have a daughter. It's pretty hard to believe.
