Someone asked me what our chances for conceiving with my lone uteri are yesterday so I started Googling. There is zero information on the pregnancy rates with a unicornuate uterus and IUI so I have no idea if that increases our chances or not but there was a study done on the UU and IVF.
In a standard couple doing IVF the pregnancy rate hovers around 45%.
In a couple with the UU the pregnancy rate fluctuated between 8 and 12%, and of those who conceived 2/6 pregnancies ended up being ectopic (where the embryo implants in the fallopian tube and then the tube has to be removed)
Now, this was only one study and I'm sure there are other ones out there that might alleviate some of my fears but I've decided to put Dr. Google away. It doesn't matter if the statistics put us at 0.5% or 50%, they are just statistics. They aren't guaranteed, they aren't factual. Maybe IUI won't work, maybe it will. Maybe IVF won't work, maybe it will. We won't know until we try. Right?
