TTC Wednesday: HSG Results (Sorta)

Perhaps, in hindsight, I shouldn't have given these posts a day of the week and just posted whenever. Though, I do like the sound of TTC Wednesday so regardless of the fact that I almost never post them on a Wednesday... I'ma keep it.

I went for my HSG this morning. We got there early and actually had to wait for the doctor to turn up. After about half an hour a nurse took me back. I got to wear one of those gorgeous hospital gowns and lay down on a table that is really maybe an inch wider than I am. There was a huge round machine thing above me which is what they used to take the picture.

The doctor came in, went over the procedure and they had me sign a release. Basically they stick a tube up into your cervix, inflate a small balloon to seal it off and inject some contrast solution. They then watch the contrast solution move through your uterus and through the fallopian tubes to ensure there is no blockages.

Basically my left tube went off like a geyser. No problems there. In fact, the doctor was pretty certain the reason they didn't see much from my right was because it was either flowing too fast out of my left or the right spasmed because of how quickly it was moving through the left. Either way, he's pretty sure there is no tubal reason related to our infertility. He might have more to say about the right tube when he sends his report but I'm comfortable enough with what he told me after. My tubes are good.

I see my GP at the end of May and both my gynaecologist and my endocrinologist mid June for a follow up and we can decide where to go from here. I'll also get to hear the full report from the HSG then.

At least I finally did it!
